Been quiet around here, whose still dieseling around in their troopers?
I still drive my 86TD almost daily and creaping up on 200k miles now getting b/t 18 and 22 mpg.
Put some new 235/75/15 bfg mud terrains on, feel like they have less rolling resistance than the liberator all terains that were on it ...
anyhow still dieseling.

I don't have a Trooper, but I park my diesel for about 6 months a year for the winter. I was going to drive it, but it's lowered so it doesn't make much of a truck in the snow. Besides, the gas engines start quicker, and warm up faster when it's below freezing. I drove my old diesel Sonoma for 6 years in the winter, and it's nice to NOT be almost at work before I get heat haha. I miss the diesel otherwise, and can't wait till spring to get it on the road again.

oh yes, still puttering along. with the 4JB1T in my 86', she is actually fun to drive ON road, as well as off! although after a recent big trip, the turbo started leaking oil so she has been sitting while i find a replacement. but she isnt hard to start in the winter, granted my winter isnt as severe as some.

I just put a new set of 30x9.5 tires on my trooper. I think i like the gearing a touch better with these over 235/75's and also glad torque wise i didn't go with a 31x10.50.

This made the 3rd order i had gotten of these from tiresavings all shipped under a week. Can't say enough for these tires. Quiet onroad and release mud better than bfg m/t.



The turbo seems a little more useful with the taller ratio as well.
Now waiting on spring to come along, got a growler starter when its cold out. Cranks fine after underhood is warm...

I'm still driving the '88 with the 4JB1. I've been working out a few bugs here and there, but it's a lot of fun to drive.

Just added an aftermarket CD player w/ iPod jack, which is a welcome improvement. Also replaced the shocks, finally finished cleaning/installing the interior, and adjusted the clutch again (it was slipping under heavy load - once, when getting on the freeway - which I think was due to improper adjustment, as it's brand new).

Now it seems that the low-sulphur diesel and biodiesel have caused some seal seepage in the injection pump; I am watching the situation, and may replace the seals if it continues.

those look like some mean tires! i looked on their site, they have some pretty good deals- but i didnt see those ones in 30x9.50. i really like the destination MT's. i am running the destination AT's and they excel in just about all weather conditions here except the mud. so i am looking into some M/S tires or MT's . probably go with treadrights, since you cant beat their prices.
