One more tidbit, I run a NAPA Gold filter. They're closer to my house than a dealer. They made a filtration comment, so I thought I'd add that.

Now that's pretty cool. Rotella, eh? So what's the make-up of the NAPA filter?

Bobs does have lots of good info.
I had a 2f toyota in the shop recently i rebuild for a fellas FJ40 and had isky cams build up and regrind the old cam since good 2f cams are about non existant.

They would only warranty it with brad penn oil.
http://www.bradpennracing.com/

I'd never used it before that build but it is SLICK like i remember oil was when i was a kid, dark so plenty of moly and zddp.
Thought it might be worth a mention

JohnnyBfromPeoria, thanks for all the useful information. When I get a couple more miles on my engine (currently at about 700 miles), I think I'll send in a sample to be analyzed.

Changed every 7k miles
Fram filter
Transmission oil:
Lucas oil Fully Synthetic

2001 Monty:
Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 Extended Performance
Changed every 15k miles
Mitsu filter
Transmission oil:
Mitsubishi

2004 Triumph Speed Triple SE
Mobil 1 Synthetic specialy formulated for Triumph
Changed every 6K miles
Tripumh filter
Transmission oil:
N/A

1974 Mazda Rx3
Castrol 20w50
Changed every 3k miles
Mazda filter
Transmission oil:

I am curious about Royal Purple but have never give it a try. As for the filter I amd pro using the factory filter so that brings a question to mind; I remember reading somewhere that Mitsubishi uses the same oil filter on most of its models, any word on that?

What I remember about the TP filter is that the oil passes from end to end of the roll, with an extemely low pass size, as all the particulate has to go past a long distance lined with lots of little particle grabbing fibers. This is preferable to a short pass thru a membrane filter. Surface area is lower than a pleated filter, so more than one unit may be required.
