As you drop pressure, you're going to encounter more problems with a wider wheel compared to your tire size.
This weekend, I was running my 33x12.5's on my above mentioned 7" wheels with no problem at 12 psi, yet Pa_Jero had a leak problem with his 35x12.5's on his 10" steel wheels at 20 psi after one of them bumped a rock and bent his steelie a little. A hammer was brought out to fix it and stop the leak.
I just feel like I can better protect my rim and bead by using a narrower wheel while compensating for the high street pressure-related tread-edge lift by carefully noting the contact patch and adjusting accordingly. I've never popped a bead, by the way, and my tires have always worn normally. I have predictable handling, even in emergency situations. They stand taller...but I guess they just don't look as cool? I dunno...

Come to think of it, MBrannon, I don't think I, personally, have seen 35's on stockers, yet. Maybe I have and just missed it. I think I'll be going 35's next time, so stay tuned and I'll stay stock.

I think I saw that truck on Craigslist too. Problem is I have BRAND NEW tires on the GEN1! Hmmm, maybe I should get the 31's and sell my brand new street tires. The future of the GEN1 is questionable right now. Debating between fixing it, selling it, or twin turboing it. Anyways, shoot me the guys email thanks

My vote is for the twin turbo, for what it's worth.

35s are heavier and do not conform to the rim as well as 33s and smaller. By that, the lip of the tire on 35s is thicker. I went from 33s to 295 (34 inch) and had to replace the rims. The 33s held air where the bigger tires would not seat correctly on one rim. Close inspection showed it was slightly out of round. I have since shifted to alloy (with 35s) as they are less likely to bend. I did bread a 6 inch chunk off and the 35s still held air. Check the fitment guide from the tire manufacture for the recommended wheel width. An 8 inch rim should work fine with 31-35 inch tires.
