This weekend, I was running my 33x12.5's on my above mentioned 7" wheels with no problem at 12 psi, yet Pa_Jero had a leak problem with his 35x12.5's on his 10" steel wheels at 20 psi after one of them bumped a rock and bent his steelie a little. A hammer was brought out to fix it and stop the leak.

35s are heavier and do not conform to the rim as well as 33s and smaller.

By that, the lip of the tire on 35s is thicker. I went from 33s to 295 (34 inch) and had to replace the rims. The 33s held air where the bigger tires would not seat correctly on one rim. Close inspection showed it was slightly out of round.

I have since shifted to alloy (with 35s) as they are less likely to bend. I did bread a 6 inch chunk off and the 35s still held air.

Check the fitment guide from the tire manufacture for the recommended wheel width. An 8 inch rim should work fine with 31-35 inch tires.
