Others, who have 99+ models, say that it is not necessary on their late model third gens because of a different fuel mapping program. They recommend a tranny cooler, but thats it. Question is, how do you know unless you've been running a S/C for 2+ years on a 99+ Someone help us out here.

Are all of the fuel and tranny mods necessary??????

If you're not prepared to spend more than $2000, I'd recommend just getting the SC and tranny cooler for now, and maybe get the larger pulley for lower boost. Keep ECT power off to save the transmission. Later on, you may decide to spend another $1.5k and it'll be like adding a supercharger again... with faster shifts, higher boost (9.5psi) and fine tuning with gismos like the sAFC, the 2nd round of mods will likely make a bigger difference to performance than the initial supercharger install.

Like everyone said, the tranny cooler is a very good idea (Level 10 even better ).
To help the ping, an extra $200 will get you the SS TMC1.1 for low rpm timing retard. If you drive around at part throttle and moderate boost, there will be a noticeable "hunt" or surging, and another $200 will get you a ESC/1. I've got this setup and it's serving me well, but then again, I'm not a throttle-jockey.

..or the most cost effective would be to pop $600 for the FTC, which allows you to custom tune the fuel/timing map for a "non-modded" S/C, then as funds allow you to increase the fuel delivery, you already have the electronics in place. Of course, then you have so much power the Level 10 tranny upgrade really becomes important.

You might be able to pick up cheaper used TMC1.1 from the TTORA board as more guys start swapping to the FTC.

Man, that's a good price!
My rig is so new, though (3k mi.). I'm not really ready yet, so if I don't buy now will the SC's be out of production in a couple years?

Is Sterling Toyota a reliable dealer?
He emailed me back and told me that he will have more superchargers in stock next week.

That is where I bought my $Runner, and it's where I get my oil changed. They are one of the highest volume dealers in Texas.

Oh, this is some type of evil trick or treat thing trying to take more money out of my wallet that I don't have to put new toys on the truck... Oh, the horror!!!!!

Glad to see you guys are eating this up.

I seriouslt doubt they dropped the price due to the 3.4l going out of production, as someone mentioned earlier; nobody supercharges when the truck is new.

(I sure couldn't afford it!)

Jesse had 10 or 15 in stock yesterday, and 50 more on order. The order for 50 has been placed already (a few days ago I think) and should be in soon.

OH my god I'm pretty jealous. And bitter, for I will never have my runner super charged. 1700 some odd dollars is an amazing price! damn, what a steal..I need money.
