the Gen 2.5 (as we call it) came with different packages. The winter package has the rear locker. My mom had a Gen III and I've noticed a slightly "cheaper" quality in the exterior and interior.. but not much. For instance, lexan headlights compared to the glass, but other better reasons why Mitsu went with lexan in the first place, but I like glass better, never fades. The interior feels and looks cheaper, but more spacious for sure. The Gen 2.5 has a package to get adjustable shock absorbers which you can control the stiffness of your ride. I LOVED this option before I got a lift, it was very very plesant to have on there. Ceiling in the Gen III seems to have cheaper quailty, doors sound more hollow, more plastic panelling and leather doesnt seems as thick.
Dont get me wrong, there are tons of pros and cons. Things that I love about the Gen II.5 and a few things I wish I could get from the Gen III. I'm not too faund of the electronic throttle in the Gen III.. feels jumpy sometimes. But I do like the Sportronic shifting and independent suspension all around, BUT only for factory setup and normal driving. Gen III has a neat 3rd row seating that tucks away underneath, so leaves tons more room back there. I just took my 3rd row out of my Gen 2.5.
Anywho, I can go on and on, but this should give you enough comparison for now. But sounds like you've got your mind made up already. either way, I think youll enjoy either one. Like i said before, both have pros and cons (I just think there are more pros in the Gen 2.5... shhh) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
