I put a genII rear bumper on a genI after I mashed the orginal. Then that bumper got pretzelled too. I also cut the frame horns off the rear, and used rectangular tubing to make my own, with the OE end caps. Departure angle was marginally better, but the limiting factor is the fuel tank anyway, so no real gains there. As for the front, the front bumper doesn't hang out that much anyway. I'd replace it for better protection, but as far as improving approach, I'm with Russ - I don't see any gains to be made? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />
