Bear with me and the following run-on / train of thought...
Is what I've been hearing reading correct? The Gen 2 SR & Gen 2.5 Winter Package rear diff's ring gear is a 9.5" gear which is the same size as a Fuso Canter's ring gear and the Canter is sold as the FE model by Fuso USA and Fuso FE's may have come with a 5.29:1 gear ratio which therefore means there's a 5.29:1 ring & pinion available for my SR?!?
TIA.

Yes. I've been searching for this for awhile now. They do exist. I haven't gotten a part number yet. My Mitsu parts guy has said that he'd pay for the J a p a n e s e ASA to order them for me and then cancel it. As it progresses, I'll update in this thread.

TIA. Well Now i'm excited.... been a while since i have seen a fuso up close, and i didn't have a montero at the time but the axle does seem very similar all together. might even be the same third member.

Fuso's in the US are too big. The Canter is a smaller version that was never offered here.

YOu'll be looking for the 2.8 diesel powered canter it uses the pajero drive train, misterbishi, toasty and i looked into this years back and what we found was 5.29's BUT the canter axle is FULL FLOAT and may have a different carrier than what we have. If you can find the Ring and pinion i'm sure if we just order 1 set and have a few of us pitch in on it then someone test fit it and if it doesn't fit no ones really out that much. I'll throw down some cash for it. Our fuso dealer was able to get it but we had to buy the whole 3rd member and it was $1000 so we passed.

Can your fuso dealer pull up the part number for just the ring/pinion gear? I might have a source via the Philippines. I recently learned that some of my cousins drive or used to drive Pajero's there.

Interesting stuff. My 490s work for my truck, but for those with 460s it would be a big upgrade on bigger than stock tires.
Ray, where are your revs sitting at on the highway, in OD, at say, 60mpg, on 35s?

The H and the G make a huge difference. We know what you mean.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

No part number he called a different country I can't remember which and they had one, you see Fuso dealers are also junkyards so you can buy new and used parts from them, have your friends ask about a used set as well ray. As far as the front canter axle i don't what it uses I know its solid and could be a front version of the 9.5 but it will also be full float.
