Yo Jim, did you get my PM? What's the state of either LWB and/or the FL SWB? Looks like the 89 is coming apart. How is the rolling chassis in terms of solid body and readiness for swapping my turbo drivetrain over?

Yeah sorry - I got it. Just meant to write out a lengthy response I never got around to.

The original 89LWB blue has hasd its 3.0L rebuilt and runs (or ran) good when parked in the garage last spring. Sicne then I've stripped the entire front brake and suspension, all new hardware incl. Bilstein shocks, and new driveshafts. Kept the stock brake configuration instead of a Gen2 upgrade, but I used Brembo rotors, and ceramic pads. New master cyl going in.

The rear is halfway apart. The right is compeltely apart with the left to be done yet. Replacing everythng from the backer plate out, Bilsteins back there too, and new OE brake line from left to right side.

Have plans to repair pass wiper knuckle rust out. windshield is out to replace cracked one and have new OE seals. Also have new seals for sunroof I'd like to get to as well. has rust in usual spots on fenders and rockers. But it's meant to be a tougher winter offroading truck where looks arent as important!

The green 91 RS I've done all the brakes incl master cyl... has recon'd fuel sending unit. Added a gauge tripod unit. Just detailed the itnerior in October. Installed soem nice Goodyear mats and have some nice aftermarket mudflaps to install yet. Have jsut about everything to convert the stalk over to an LS stalk, add the intermittent wiper controller for adjsutable speed and the cotnrol for headlight washer set-up I plan to add. Minor rust issues - mainly at pass door mirror. just replaced those too.

Both trucks have new recon'd steering gears. the 89 is aftermarket before I knew what I was doing 3-4 years ago. The 91 I did myself.

The 91 I use as a daily driver until it gets warm enough for the 944.

The 87 is clean. No visible body rust. slight body crinkle in rear left fender aft of the fuel door. Paint is OK, but clearcoat faded and it has some black splotchign I was going to try and polish out.

I've got recent pics of the 91RS and 87 rigs. The blue 89 is too hard to photo in the garage.

Oh and I have some awesome LS rims I had pwodercoated in Anthracite grey in anticpation of putting on the blue 89 with Wrangler Duratracs and possibly the Green 91 RS eventually. So yeah - 10 LS rims powdercoated

The 87 has the chromed steelies with new Bridgestones on them. I have the head pulled - it's bad. Waiting for time and $ to get a Clearwater. The bad block is still in. Your block I got has been prof. cleaned with new freeze plugs. I have it painted in Chrysler hemi-orange on a stand (an homage to it's Florida-orange origins!) ready to start rebuilding.

I've started to part the 88 Quest of some trim. I owe a guy the steering components. But the turbo engine still runs albeit with a coolant leak.

The blue 89 Quest SHP is sitting quietly awaiting it's turn. Needs it's engine gone through. The P.O. was an who didnt know what he was doing. Used orange RTV with a new CHG.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm looking for some of the plastic interior trim parts for a SWB 1990 montero - the pieces above the dvr and pass side windows, the large panels that surround the back windows, a headliner to use as a template to make a new one. Also the rear drive shaft if its in good shape. Maybe some other bits and pieces, depending on what you have. If blue, even better.

I've leaving for Death Valley tomorrow to drag a bunch of geology students around for a week, so I'll get back to you a week from this sunday if you have any of the parts listed above.

Thanks! Rockdoc

1990 SWB Montero, 3.0l auto, ARB lockers, OME suspension, 32' BFG AT's, PIAA light upgrade.

I did save some of the plastic door moulding in blue if that's what you're looking for.

the large panels that surround the back windows,

I didnt save these - the parted rig was too dirty, and IIRC a LWB and a SWB windows are differently sized.

a headliner to use as a template to make a new one.

Also too dirty to save. Just looking at my headlinge rfor my original 89 LS and I too would like a newer one one day!

Also the rear drive shaft if its in good shape.

I have a rear driveshaft, but it's from the scrapped 89LS LWB. You might have to go to PLH for that one, but I dont know if there are any differnces between your Auto shaft and his manual shaft. Might want to refer to ASA or CAPS.
Maybe some other bits and pieces, depending on what you have. If blue, even better.
Not a problem - I have a lot of other blue itnerior bits including door ashtrays, a console, glovebox, dash pieces, etc etc.

I should have clarified - the blue rear door ashtrays. I only have 1 main ashtray in blue and I need that!

Russ - are you looking for the rear ashtrays?

Sounds like you're pretty much keeping the whole rigs. That's probably good then as it negates me having to figure out how to take any of them on.
