It just depends on what the current cause of your sloppiness is. If its a worn out idler, then it will help. If the problem is elsewhere, then its not going to change much except be stronger and last a whole lot longer.

The idler arm is all I upgraded in the steering. As far as maintenance, at around 260k I took apart the steering box and tightened it up a bit (input shaft preload) and that helped with sloppiness too.

I haven't had any tire wear issues or needed an alignment since I put in the TC idler.
