The copper tubes are the guides for the drive cable. They route the cables from the sides to the motor, and past the motor as storage for the length of the cable when the glass is closed. I think you have a motor/switch problem. The motor assy. has cams and switches that halt the travel in set places. The sunroof only opens about 7"+ when you first hit the switch. You have to release and hit the switch again to get it to travel further, and IIRC, there's one more stop before you get to full open. Closing cycle follows the same pattern. I'd fully close the glass, remove the motor assy, and check that all the switches work as they should and that the electic checks in the 92-95 manual are OK. Then I'd check for obstructions in the track.
