I started out with a '95 Montero that i bought from motero, then got it running and driving. Soon after that i removed the interior then the rear glass. Next was the doors, wiring and the layout for cutting. Chopped it down in sections and changed my mind a bit on what i wanted to do, i was origonally gonna box in the cab with a removable rear window but i decided to just enclose the lower half of the cab up to the window line. The reason i'm going this route is because the LWB B pillar is really narrow and since i'm tall i can't just sheet all the way across otherwise i can't put my seat back far enough. This will actually work out better because i won't have an extra back glass to store. Anyways next I cut the center floor board to be the new lower rear wall and welded it into place, the new center wall will be made from something like a tail gate because i know at some point some will climb in through the back and it will need to be very rigid. I made templates for the steel to box in the 4 corners of the body, the rocker corners will be made out of a thicker plate to prevent colapsing on impact even though i will have sliders. The other thing i did was relocate the roof crossmember, the LWB origonally had 2 body crossmembers and i welded the larger one in at the end of the chop. This should help support the crap i put up on the roof rack and i might even weld the other crossmember in the center just for extra support even though i'm only planning on putting light stuff like sleeping bags and a tent up top. That's all for now i'll keep this updated as i go.

Mitsulvr, I knew you were serious so i acted quick

Motero, I think you're right and your truck has found a good home. I have it's new engine just sitting next to it waiting to go in.

Subscribed!

You're lucky I'm sick and cant seem to muster up the energy today.

What's your glass and corners plan? I'm reusing the glass and corners for mine but previous cuts have made the lower sections useless. I have a D50 cab laying around tho. May incorporate that. Sorry Hijack off.

(edit) Fingers and brain not in sync

The lower rear wall is the old rear floor folded up, the center of my rear wall will possibly be a tailgate so that it will take more abuse plus make the cab more rigid.

Sorry I did read that I guess it just didn't sink in. I meant more for the cab corners and back window tho. I reworded my post after I saw what I wrote

I wish I was in AZ to check this out.
