Either that or the 2nd cat is plugging up too. And no, I didn't have cel light after I put in the anti-fouler. Have you reset it?

How can I reset it? I pulled the pos. terminal from the battery and it did not reset, that or it stayed on because of the cat issue and now being hollow. I did order the new cat today so when it gets in I will let you guys know how it feels.

You have to leave the battery unhooked for a little while, 20 minutes or so? Either that or have an Autozone or some other place that checks codes for you reset it, if they still do. I've got a code reader I picked up at Harbor Freight for $40 so it's pretty easy for me.

And if it resets, it shouldn't come on for two cycles. In other words, the second time you run the car and it comes up to temp.

Ok, so I got the CAT on and the torq and power have mostly come back. In the process I created a leak after the precat on this connecting pipe piece. I will try to get some pics up of it later so maybe someone can tell me what it is called. I also went to change the plugs and the cylinderclosest to the cab had once been stripped out. I found this out trying to put the plug in not getting a bite on it at all and finding the helicoil on the old plug. Somehow this just doesnt sit right. Any ideas on how I can make sure I get the plug in the right depth? I think this may be a bit of the issue as far as vibrations go, not a miss, but close. Oh and the CAT fixed the CEL.

is the helicoil a spring type or a real insert ? you might need a kit to chase the thread and put in a new insert. I had to put in a insert on the cylinder up front, go real slow, they strip easy and alot of our prepowers never used antisezie on the plug, and so comes the sriped threads if they did not, and oil on the plug does not do it, it is the other way it grabs the threads so it strips even more.

If your check engine light is on at least you know the light still works

well I got a new helicoil and re-threaded the head and this fixed the issue. I just got the spark plug repair kit to overcome the depth issue I was having. No I just need to get under there and weld the exhuast leak. But final word on the cat\no cat\hallow cat is.... The precat needs to be there and complete. Taking ot off or hollowing it out will kill what little torq and power we have. Also getting to the plugs is the worst set up I think I have ever seen....

Hollowing out the pre-cat didn't seem to make mine any more sluggish, but I do have a standard transmission. I do agree with you on the plugs, what a pita. Oh, and be careful unplugging and plugging in the coil wires, the plugs get brittle with age and will fall apart on you eventually. I'm probably going to have to replace mine the next time I do the spark plugs or change a coil.

Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about that. The coil and boot just fell apart. Yesterday while my wife was driving it home from work the old coil blew out of the head. Thats why I had to re-tap it and use a real sleave coil. But the coil boot and all was toast.
