ok I did find it. it says to hook up a special wire harness to check. can I just find the color wires off the org. plug? or do I need something special? going to try in the morning.

See Pg 13A-96. The explanation on how to check it using a 'Special Took' (aka a standard multimeter) is there.

did the test on the IAC and a question. when you touch the circuit and it vibrates it is supposed to keep shaking or just a quick shake? because if it just shakes a little im good if not need a new one. it passed the ohm test for the coil.

I have a 1992 FSM. Last sentence of test procedure says:
"If, as a result of this test, vibration is felt, the stepper motor can be considered to be normal."

Is that what you need to know? There is a 6 step check process for troubleshooting IAC after it is removed. Is that what you are following?

thats what I am folowing. but is it a very short vibration or does it stay vibrating??? it shakes for less than a sec. I would have thought it would stay shaking.

Did you do the test for each terminal using 6v power source? My backup Haynes says; "If servo vibrates slightly during these tests, it's OK. If not replace." "...note whether there's any vibration..."

I've never done the test but it looks like a short (slight) vibration is a pass. Did you test TPS?
