Hope you all forgive me for my momentary laspse of reason there...

So, theres this fellow here that tells me that to replace my auto hubs with manuals, I need different, um... stub shafts? (90 lwb).

Thanks

I think its safe to say we have a consensus of opinion here, on more than one count

Now that we have that straight, thank you very much...as of late I have been duly advised that one always locks the rear diff first and if that does not do ya, then and only then lock the front.

I have to say though that the more I read about people who have welded thier front diffs, opting to manually lock either or both front hubs depending on conditions, even choosing WHICH front wheel has traction, is sounding quite attractive to me. Personally I don?t see a downside... am I missin sumpin? I mean sounds pretty ideal, sure an air locker would be better, but this is cheap, effective and I can "switch it off" when I want? Keep in mind mostly what I need this for is mud holes... problem there?

Thanks.

If your operation is chiefly mud, how about the air locker plus some Gen II drive flanges? The front axles would always be engaged, but you could select the locker off.

Weyul, actually I dont think I need two locked diffs, I do fine for the most part as it is. In any case, sure an air locker rear would be the shiznit, but for the moment other things are taking priority such as new torsion bars, coils and nice shocks. The flanges don?t float my boat either, reminds me of my 67 landcruiser, dont want my front end turning all the time. The itch to weld is about to get the best of me, I?m to the point where I?m going to do something crazy... someone stop me.
