Cleaned points and rotor, Timing is dead on, tensioner good timing marks dead on. I'll try removing the ecu and leaving it in my house for a few days bc it has now been raining for almost 3 days.

Take the ecu apart!!

i have inspected mine before and it looks great. i leak water all the time right onto the ecu through rust holes.

i double bagged the ECU to keep out the water.

the nuts are easy to remove on the ECU but you may need vise grips.

look at the circuit board. you will see a burn mark if water got on it. it will be very obvious most times!

i guess it could be the ECU but that would be a guess. do you know someone local with same vehicle and you could swap ecu's to check it??

Good Luck.

I have a spare from an 89 standard tranny but not sure if they will swap?

It should swap fine. No ecu control of tranny or ecu sensors on tranny.

Have you tested ecu coolant temp sensor? That will cause the exact problem you describe. Mixture will be too lean to crank a cold motor, but the plugs will be wet and you will have spark. If the ecu is fried, you should see no spark and/or no fuel.

true all of that.

i have a spare ECU from an automatic. mine is a manual.

i pulled both ecu's apart and noticed no difference at all except for two resisitors. i then tried it on my vehicle and it worked fine! i keep it as a spare in the back of my rig.

Check the timing, then the fuel pressure. What about the codes?

I finally got it running again!!!!. After the rain subsided and and sun came out I was able to see what was going on. Tryed starting it gain and poof, it started. Except it ran like crap, and a loud sound of ticking was coming from the engine bay, took alook under the hood and saw that the ticking was my coil arcing out on the motor. Apparently with all the rain and humidity, the coil cracked. THis explained why i still had spark and fuel. Changed it out with a new one and man what a difference even from when it did run good from before. Now it runns great!!!
