Parked it last night. Went to start it this morning and nothing. Cranks and cranks and cranks and nothing. Checked spark, good. Checked fuel, good. Both working. Compression good. No check engine codes. Pulled the plugs and covered in gas, gas in the oil as well. Switched out plugs, cleared out cyclinders and still nothing. All ingnition good, fuel good. Checked fuel pressure regulator and no leaks. No vacuum leaks. It just keeps flooding the cyclinders. COuld it be an ECU problem? I have a spare but its from a standard transmission v6, any difference there? I cannot figure this out, I need to get this thing started asap as it is my only car right now. I need help. Anything PLEASE!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
So got fuel and fire, but not even a cough from the motor? Sounds like a timing issue to me to. One would think that unless it was just badly out of time you would be getting a cough, some smoke, a sign of some kinda life.

You got squirt and spark - do you have squish?

If you've got compression, do you have the right amount of fuel for a cold start? Test the ecu coolant temp sensor, on the thermostat housing, two wire, connectors in a tee shape, should read 6ohms at 32*F, and 2.7ohms at 68*F, pretty linear inbetween those points.

Do you have any codes on the diagnostic connector?

No engine codes at this point, even disconnected the dizzy harness to make sure that a light would come on, and it did, went out after i reconnected it. It has been raining hard here for just about 48hrs now, the only thing I can think of is that water may have gotten into my ECU via a pinhole in the windshield frame. It always leaked but i never noticed water actually on the ecu. I waited another 4hrs and tryed to fire it again. Same thing, pulled the plugs and soaking wet again. I am at a complete loss right now? Sounds good when cranking but just won't fire. Is there a chance there is something wrong with the ecu and its pumping too much fuel into the cyclinders flooding them? I have a spare ecu i pulled from an 89 stick shift can i swap it in and check if thats it? Chris

It takes 5 things to make a motor run: Spark, Squirt, Suck, Squish, and Timing, and these things must be provided in the right amount and in the right order.

You have spark and squirt (and we'll assume suck, as in air). You said that you checked squish as well. As others have said, timing could be the issue, as could the amount of the others.

Or your timing belt snapped... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

check the dizzy contact points and rotor.

check cambelt.

double check timing.

leave ecu in warm room with airflow overnight.
