On a 92 with the 12v v6, there are two diagnostic connectors under the driver's dash, left side. One (the left one) has offset rounded ends, and the right one has square ends. Connect the light/voltmeter to either of the top center connections on the rounded end connector (grounds) and to the upper leftmost connector on the square end connector, and switch on the ignition. The codes should be output, if any.
