What I would like to be able to find (opposed to a roof carrier basket/rack) is a rear rack like I have seen on some Jheeps. They have a basket about 3/4 high up on the spare tire that is good sized - I just can't find the set up. Either whole or part by part.
I do have a carrier (750# rated) that goes into the rear receiver and goes straight out but this wouldn't work for wheeling.
I wonder - has anyone built an arm that could go from the 2x2 receiver up to where the carrier could be mounted into a high 2x2 receiver? Seems like it would be a handy set up to have. Removable - should be able to carry a decent amount of stuff that is reachable & not have to be on the roof. I figure that 2 ratchet cargo straps run diagonally and anchored would be a good fast/removable way to keep the set up steady under load and while wheeling.
Anyone in Monteland experimented with this approach? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
