For anyone who is interested in studying on your own instead of doing the ham cram there are dozens of test locations all around the Bay Area. They offer tests 1-2 times a month, all you have to do is Google amateur radio testing in your city. Kris/KJ6ERW, Cupertino's test sessions are on the first and third Saturdays of each month and only cost $15 instead of $30. Location: Saratoga Fire Station, 14380 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070.
