Tell him to seat the torque converter right this time. He most likely only seated it down part way smashing the TC onto the trans when bolting the engine to the bellhousing. Brendan ruined his by not seating it all the way and it did the same exact thing grinding and not going into gear when he replaced the trans on my current Montero. He might chime in here and explain more.
