Old Man E-MU makes a complete system replacement for my 90 LWB. Front and Rear Shocks, and Progressive Taller Peened Rear Coils. They also sell Heavy Duty Torsion Bars. And as a kit/set Coils and Shocks I thought it is reasonably priced. I hate having to search around for parts. Anybody use/like the E-MU shocks. I have them on my 30 year old Toyota and I like them a lot. Thanks for any input.

I have the OME shocks and rear springs on my GenII and have been very happy with them. They've been subjected to some extreme abuse and I haven't had a single issue with them. The ride over rough surfaces is a significant improvement over the original ride with the worn-out adjustable factory shocks (really not a fair comparison but it's the only comparison I can really make). They've been on the truck for over 60k miles now and are still performing as designed.

I dont have any personal experience with OME. But I know at least two members here that have broken them.

RyanY and I ran a "rally" style run a couple of weeks ago. His rig can flat out handle. If it didn't break then, I don't know what could break it. We could have fried eggs on our shocks after that, as he mentioned later.

'Course, I'm a KYB advocate, myself. (Not because I work for them...I DON'T). Try 'em first.

Mine leaked out and broke in half after day, ~ 250 miles in desert. Not that it really means anything. My companion on Land Cruiser also had OMEs and didn't have any problems. (althouth their shock layout is different). Monty shocks do have to work harder since they are positioned at steep angle so have to be valved harder (providing more resistance at shorter distance) meaning fluid is exposed to higher pressures and higher speeds traveling through valves, meaning higher oil temperature and higher probability of foaming. Aslo being double walled OME Nitrocharger will have even more problem dessipating the heat as compared to mono-tube.
High pressure mono-tube shocks should generally fare better in those conditions.
Although twin-tube shocks have couple advantages:
a) if external shell gets damaged shock will continue operate normally unlike mono-tube where piston may get
jammed.
b) they generally have longer travel since they don't need extra space at the bottom for high pressure gas chamber like mono-tube shocks do (unless of course you go with fancier external reservoir high pressure shocks)
None the less I'm sure OMEs are good shocks, mine were fairly old too.

Thanks to all who replied. Good info from all. I did a little research as well. I typed into Google the phrase "Rancho versus Old Man Emu Shocks". Man I got a lot of opinions/hits! My conclusion from your replies and the Google search is it's up for debate! What I took away is this. If I run the Old Man EMU rear coil springs and Old Man Emu Shocks, I will be seriously pleased. If I don't run the Emu coils, Rancho, KYB, Or Koni shocks whould be the smart way to go and not nesesarily in that order. In fact the Aussie's seem to realy like Koni's. Thanks again for the input.

Why can't you run the OME coils with KYB (or other) shocks? The coils are inexpensive a la carte, and the KYBs are great and inexpensive, as well. Just a thought...
