So my starter had been acting up lately (dashlights on, battery charged, but just a slight click noise rather then firiing up)

I went ahead and took the solenoid off and pulled the shaft portion out. Got everything cleaned out inside (plenty of crap in there!) and regreased the top and bottom bearings.

Now the problem is, how do I get the shaft back in the solenoid housing?!?!

I cannot figure out how to get the four spring loaded copper contact at the bottom of the housings to retract enough in order to fully reinsert the shaft back in. (damn there are some big innuendos lurking in this post!)

Can anyone offer any advise? PLEASE!

Any sick and twisted innuendos will be tolerated...
