For about the same price you can get a Springfield xd9, which I have yet to find a bad review.
Uhhh Hate to burst any bubbles, but those guns have serious mag problems. Don't drop a mag in the dirt... It won't work. Some pistol classes outright will not allow XD's in their classes because they do not work when you get them wet, and get dirt on them.
Trust me...If you are defending your life with a firearm... Drink the coolaide, and buy a glock.
(this is coming from an xd9 owner)
Not trying to get in a pissing match, cause we are not the first one to have the conversation. but this was like 5 minutes of looking.
"Granted Glock came up with the lightweight frame/steel slide and barrel initially, but Springfield has improved on that design. The Springfield XD's are less expensive than Glocks brand new. The Glock is at least partially manufactured in Austria while the XD is partly from Croatia.
I am waiting for XD to come out with either a .45 GAP or ACP in 3". When that happens, you will likely see me carrying it under HR218 rather than my M27.
So here's a vote for the XD."
http://www.realpolice.net/forums/firearms-4/47768-glock-vs-springfield-xd.html"Strike up another vote for the Glock. If I could have only 1 gun, it would be my Glock. Ultra-reliable, very utilitarian.
The Springfield may be just as good, but it has yet to have time to prove it. It is just a Glock-wannbe in a different wrapper.
If you can, just shoot them both and see what you like. I would give the Glock the nod, if for no other reason than a proven track record."
"Chaulk up another XD fan here. I can't wait to get my hands on one of the 45 ACP models!"
"I have shot the Glock 34 and a XD9 extensively. I ended up going with a XD9 because it seems to feel better in my hand. I also like the tuned trigger on the XD better then the tuned trigger on the Glock 34. While I think my XD is the right choice for me it is hard to say which is better for you. If you end up getting a Glock don't even think about competing without sending it to Charlie Vanek for his excellent trigger work. If you get a XD then Canyon Creek is your best bet for XD trigger work.
I went with a Dawson .10 front fiber optic sight as well. You will not be disappointed with this sight in even cloudy skies it is so bright it jumps out at you. Here is a link to my gun when it was all done. As soon as I started shooting this gun I bumped from a middle of the road D to a high C. I am training right now so that I can make the bump to B before next summer. Both guns are great I am sure you will be happy with either gun for me the XD was the way to go."
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=158536"Its all going to come down to personal preference. I never cared for the glock trigger but i wish the XD had less travel.
Personally I like the XD more, I like the balance and the way it feels, and have the XD 9mm Subcompact XD .40 tactical and XD 45, I used to own a glock 19,22,23,and 30. However I do have a Glock 36 on order due to its size and XD just cant match that."
http://www.allmilitary.com/board/viewtopic.php?pid=106604That's coming from guys that use guns like we use wrenches.
And when I search Springfield xd clip problems I came up with nothing. Not saying you are lying or anything, Just saying it must not be a big problem or you would not have to look long to find someone else with the same problem.
My opinion is shoot em and make up your own mind.
one more link for fun.
