I can't believe you disagree with that statement. I don't own either rifle but I have spent weeks behind both.

You never hear of anybody having issues with Minis.....The AR platform has so many little parts that the rifle must be kept damn near sterile and fully wet to cycle properly. The mini has a Garand type action that operates better in cold temperatures and handles a dirty environment better.

Now I do like the way the AR feels. It feels like a pellet gun compared to the mini. The cool factor is way up there with the AR too. I'd love to have one but the whole "bullet button" and "low cap mags" scenario here in Kali kind of kills all the fun of having an expensive AR.

Sorry, I just got too many stories from my Vietnam vet roomie in college about the day they took the m14's away and gave them a toy plastic gun that jammed every time you fired it and had dinky bullets that leaves would deflect, and expected them to go to war with that crap. They didn't even issue cleaning kits to the troops, claiming cleaning was not required...

Roomie had to tear his down twice in the same firefight due to jams. You can just start to say M16 to this day, and he'll start singing " M - I - C, K - E - Y, .....

M14, and Mini 14 are NOT the same rifle.

M-14 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M14_rifle

Mini 14 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_14

Yup, I know. I've fired both. M14 is basicly an M1 with a box magazine and a gearshift, and a mini14 is a Ruger with a lot in common with the Ruger .44 carbine.
