My 03 Montero is in for service and they found oil on top of some of the plugs. they want to change the spark plug seals. Any advice?

Yup, that's common. Look up my thread about changing my valve guide seals and you'll see I changed the spark plug tube seals too. The old ones were really hard and brittle. What else are they doing?

I took it in for TB and tune-up for 60K service. Found the plug seal leaking and a small Valve cover leak. I went ahead and told them to fix it. Is there anything else I should have the check.

May as well replace the o rings on the cam plugs in the back of the heads. Much, much easier with the intake plenum out the way. New plug wires? Get the good ones (Mitsu or check my thread). I hope they've putting good plugs in too. Don't want to change those in a hurry either.

Are they replacing the water pump with the TB job? Definitely should. TB idlers too. What about accessory belts and idlers? How many miles on the hydraulic TB tensioner? Probably should replace that too. I know it's another $100, but if the old one fails after you've invested in a TB change... Mine did was still working at 145K miles when I changed it. Your call.

Can't think of anything else right now, but again, look over the thread I posted above. I replaced pretty much every seal/gasket there was in there

Who's doing the service? OEM seals were something pricey. I got FelPro kits for the 95 and 98 that were the VC gaskets and the plug tubes for around $40 each.

This is the wife's 03 Limited with the 3.8 litre. I am having it done at the Mitsu dealer hear in Wilmington. The car has 62k on it and was running fine. I was told the water pumps are good for 120K. i just don't have the time to try and tackle that kind of job myself.

Water pump should be good for 120k. My 95 went at 105k. Now that mine are higher miles, I am changing the water pump with each belt, using a decent brand, but not OEM at twice the price.
