Being new here I figure this may be the place to get help.
Bought an '89 short bed Toy w/ 22re 4 cyl from my neighbor for a couple hundred bucks. Other than the standard issues that come with a truck with 180k plus on it, it has an oil leak somewhere on the right side. After a few pressure washes, I've been unable to locate the source. Oil is thrown around the engine compartment causing the belts to squeal and leave lovely dribble lines wherever it's parked. My initial guess would be a possible front crank seal but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

>>>*Here are several possible common source of hard to find oil leaks.

1. Top oil pump hold down bolt. That hole is threaded all the way through the cover and the threads must be sealed or it will leak without fail.

2. Oil pump seal at the front, or the O-ring at the rear.

3. Valve cover itself, oil drips down and is thrown back by air off the fan and appears to be coming from everywhere.

4. Porosity in the timing cover itself, low down on the right side.

One of those is the usual source of the leak.....*EB
