There are actually only a few differences between the front frame sections on the 4-cyl and V6 frames relative to the mounting of a bumper. The outside to outside measurement on both frames is 2.55 feet. The inside to inside measurements are 2.15 (4-cyl) and 2.0 feet (V6), respectively. The difference in the inside measurements is due to the steel used for the bumper mount.

The 4-cyl bumper mount is visually taller than the 6-cyl piece; however, this is deceptive when you do not have the two types to compare. The 4-cyl piece extends all the way to the inside bumper height and has a welded nut I presume to be for the factory winch fairlead mount atop the bumper. The 6-cyl piece uses a box with a welded nut to achieve the inside bumper elevation and has a wider section that extends back on the frame horn, thus making the inside winch area more rectangular. In the end, the only real difference is the inside dimension. See photos below:
