OK. I get that there is a difference between the 4 cyl frame and the 6 cly frame. But ARB leaves out the 89 and 90 year models. Why? So what I think I hear is the ARB bumpers for 91 thru like 97 will work on a 90 LWB 6 cyl? Huh? With some help from spacers or a grinder? Huh?

Because 89 and 90 were V6's. (well most 89's are and all 90's are) with the different frame.

Now if you want to put the gen 2 Bar on your 89 that will work too but you'll need to grind off some of the inner mount on the ARB to get it to work as well as shaving the inside corners.

Either way your gonna have to grind. Its just a matter of which bumper you prefer.

I had this exact same question for my 1989 V6 SWB. Sounds like the Gen II bumper is the best one to modify if it is a V6?

Justice, do you have any other pics of this truck? I am curious about the width and how it lines up with the fenders. I like that the Gen II bumper wraps around the front where the Gen I does not.

Thanks

I also have a Gen1 with a Gen2 Bumper on it.

I modified my frame rails to fit. I basically welded plate on my frame, and built Gen2 Frame horns onto my Gen1 Chassis.

Kindy Blurry, but you can see the plate welded to the frame.

The frame horns are different between the 4 cyl frames and the 6 cylinder frames. The 6 cyl horn is wider than the 4 cyl horn. Almost 10 years ago I purchased an ARB winch bumper for a Gen I 4 cyl. I took the bumper and truck to a machine shop and they cut out the plate circled in [color:"red"] red and moved it toward the center about 1 inch. They then added a plate to the top and bottom to keep the box intact around the frame. The plate in [color:"yellow"] yellow does not move.

OK, now that you've figured this out.. does that place actually have them in stock? I know ARB no longer does and I'd be surprised if the place you found has them. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
