I guess maybe I should already know this by now, but must I change my Gen I UCA?s to Gen II in order to use the Gen II torsion bars, or are they a simple bolt in?

Have you measured both in length? I'm having visions of past threads and them being different.

The bars mount to the lower A Arms so the uppers wont matter. From whats been discussed here, the 94+ bars are too long, but sparkem has interchanged with 92/93 bars and said those ones will fit.

Great Justice, thanx. My bars have "taken a set" (?) and even if you crank them to the max they dont get any harder. My shocks are doing all the work up front... They heavy? Such a pain in the arse to buy used stuff here <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> Anyone have any????

Have you tried "re-indexing" the bars yet? That might give you what you need up front with out replacing the bars.

Have you tried "re-indexing" the bars yet? That might give you what you need up front with out replacing the bars. When I last had my torsion bars out and missed the proper index mark by just one notch, the adjuster hung down so far I'm sure I would have hit it on something. Your bars would have to be pretty tired for it to work right, I think. YMMV. John B.

The early gen2s will fit because of the engine and tranny combo is the same length. I dont know if the stock bars for the gen2 and gen1 are the rate or not. But the gen1 bars work just fine. I swapped mine out because my 93 had heavy duty swayaway bars from AUS.

re-indexing is when you remove the bars and rotate them one (or more) spline inboard and then re-install to give the adjusters more range of motion to twist the bars. This may get you some extra lift with worn bars, but wont give you any additional stiffness IMO.
