There is no "longer" front strut available for the Sportage. I have heard that KYB's replacements are good but have no experience with them.
For rear shocks, I really like the Gabriel ProGuard from autozone. If you want more down travel and less up travel for the rear, you can use the 1999 RAV4 rear shocks. You will have to figure out a way to hold the spring from falling out but that is pretty easy with a bolt and washer on the bottom spring perch and bump stops on the top, and you will need to replace the sleeve in the bottom grommet.
Let us know what you come up with.
