I think he is referencing me grilling him on the 3.0 Raider on the for sale section where he said it had 200hp with diamante pistons.

Heck, I used a Diamante block, heads and cams and made over 200HP - it was so powerful, I had to use a head spacer to keep it from blowing up.

I like this 3.5L idea.

I hear if you put diamante pistons in the 3.5 you can get over 700 hp on pump gas.

That's incorrect. On premium, it's 700. It's only 675 on 87...

I used the search function to find that info, BTW.

With a 3.8 stroker it can reach 1000rwhp, 1300 ft/lbs of tq at 900rpm.

I didn't need to search, I have hands on experience with this.

3.5 swap is looking good. I'll probably go 4.3 with the blown LWB i have though, So I can tow stuff

You might want to remove the left foot rest from the Gen II. The early model Gen I trucks did not have this. I believe they appeared in the 1990 models.

You must be using Mobil 1 in the crankcase then. I'm told that adds at least 50 RWHP.

This is a cool swap.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Things are moving along...
I pulled the Gen 1 engine harness last night.

I welded the mounts today...

[Linked Image]

Here it is as it sits on the new mounts. The guesstimation of the amount it would compress the rubber seemed to work out pretty well.

[Linked Image]

I then started working on the exhaust. It's really close to being a perfect fit...close to the point where I think there is probably a "perfect" location for the engine that would require no modification (maybe next time). The passenger torsion bar was the only real issue. The exhaust may ultimately need to be modified by an exhaust shop, but I figured it was good enough for now.

Here is a pic of the second cut I had made to the oil pan. It may not be entirely necessary, but the extra room won't hurt.

[Linked Image]

I've got the engine back out of the truck now and am about to start pulling pieces off for powdercoating. At this point I think I'm basically down to plumbing and wiring.
