Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, really didn't manage to get much done this weekend. Work followed me home, and I even had to turn down a trail ride with some jeepers. But, here are a few more pics...

What's something like that run? And is it a drop-in to the H4 cans or are other mods necessary? Interested in case the LED's don't captivate my interest after I get it back on the road...

It was about $80...I got it off Amazon. I figured they might be a bit of a gamble, but I wasn't about to gamble on the kits that are a few hundred dollars. Yeah, they're drop-ins for the H-4 cans. I've got those on the way from JCWhitney. The hids look ridiculously easy to install...they have a male connector that just plugs into the factory headlight connection. Once I get the cans I'll plug them in outside the truck and let you know how they look.

And will the dash stay brick red?

Cool. There was some discussion about the negative effects on oncoming drivers due to the inability of the H4 cans reflector to handle the spectrum of light that's emitted by the HID bulb. I've seen some that were terrible and some that were great. Not sure why there's such a difference. You're a smart guy, I'm sure it'll be easy for ya to manipulate light spectrums.... Especially since you fart lightning bolts....

No clue where that came from. I are tired...

Mmmmmmm....I kinda doubt it. I haven't decided on a color. Yellow, gray, charcoal, tan...I dunno.

Also, I can't remember the color temperature of the hid bulbs...but it's supposed to be white.

The light color temp should make no diff to the surface deposited reflector in the h4 can, and I can't think why it would to the lensing of the front quartz, IF the light source is similar in placement and size to the normal h4 bulb filament.

Well, I was kinda all over the place with projects this weekend...but luckily they pretty much all ended up being on the truck:

-Disassembled the heads and took them to the machine shop
-Disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the climate blower, and installed new foam on the flapper.
-Painted passenger side of engine compartment...not beautiful, but an improvement
-Analyzed the MAF mounting situation...looks like mounting it to the Gen 1 can should be pretty straightforward. I'll probably have to do some custom ducting, but I'm sure McMaster-Carr will have all I need.
-More wiring harness sorting. Isolated rear section of Gen1 harness in preparation to merge it into the Gen 2. Probably will do the same thing with the Gen 1 horn/headlight/washer/etc section that goes forward from the firewall. Looks like I'll have to do a lot of connector swapping for things like door locks, windows, climate etc.

Body Damage is Cool
One month down, 3 weeks to go. Picking up another 87 Raider, has a blown motor. Will be swapping in the one I got from Eli. The Mudraider is going to be getting its air locker rears, new springs, and complete Gen 2 front brake/UCA/master cyl upgrade. So I need some inspiration. So how's the project coming along? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Things are still moving along. I was out of town for a week, and I only just got some of my parts back from the machine shop. I think I have everything together now that I want to get powdercoated, so hopefully a start can be made on that this week. It appears that the engine is just about done.

The engine compartment is all painted and ready to go now. I just got a TIG, so I've been learning how to use that by further solidifying my dashboard mounts, and filling in the clearance holes on my oil pan. As soon as I'm done welding on the inside, I think I'm ready to start getting the wiring finalized.
