John and I and wife and g'daughter Aubrey went over to Nate's yesterday after taking Aubrey swimming (some duck in that child) and it looks nicer in person than in the pics. You can not imagine how many hours are in this thing so far, unless you have jumped off into the unknown on a complex project yourself. The work is very, very nice.

Thanks a ton Ed, I was glad you could stop by to see it and throw around some ideas.

Meanwhile, I have a slight oversight to document...

I was not aware that the Gen 2 3.5L flywheel had 3 more teeth on it. This puts the starter in an incorrect location to bolt into the Gen 1 transmission.

And, whatever these things are called...they needed to be modified too.

I apparently forgot to take an "after cutting" pic, but you get the idea...

This all took place about a week ago, so the engine is primed, sparkplugs are in, and all the final little bits are on the engine. I still need to finalize the fuel lines, but they're probably 9/10ths of the way done. One other main sub-project that needs to be completed is to adapt the Gen 2 Mass Airflow Sensor to the Gen 1 air box...but I have somewhat of a plan for this.

I've always called them scatter shields.

What I called scatter shields were the steel cans around the bellhousing to catch the hypervelocity bits of an exploding clutch. I understand the current teck is a kevlar wrap around secured with straps, which would be a shitepile easier.

...and then there was MAF.

Lots of pics, but I figured it might be helpful to see the progression.

The existing hose is just there for...well, really no reason at all. I'm still trying to decide how exactly I'm going to plumb the intake.
Everything is weird diameters and circumferences...

That one came out of my chevelle. I was lucky. Broke the bellhousing in alot of different parts. It came through the floor in 1 spot, but no blood was released.

Nate, that motor install looks amazingly clean. the 3.5 aint my thing, but that looks great.
