It's not just the speedo that is a concern, but just all the vac lines that I had to remove (along with the idea of switching from lever/rod linkage to cable doesn't sit well with me). The G1 transmission is a nicer unit in my eyes since it only needs the kickdown cable and OD solinoid to make it run like it should. I might keep the G2 trans, but since my LWB trans only has 50k on it. I should be OK and not break it.

Any new pictures since the last update? is it running yet?
