ARGH!!! Dang Jeepers Jamboree on the 3rd and 4th weekend in July on the 'con..

Maybe time to reconsider doing the con and maybe do some trails either in the sierra's south of the 'con or maybe even as far south as Shaver Lake (east of Fresno)? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

How dare they!! Don't they know we were planning a trip? What the heck.

I'm in for where ever it is.

I would be up for a trip, either of those weekends in July. But, what trail are you planning on running? My rig is ready for Deer Valley and the like, but not sure it would be ready for the Rubicon.

How about starting with Deer Valley, hwy 88 side, you can camp at the end of the trail(hwy 4), theres a staging area with port-a-potties. Then the next day we can do slickrock. This would put the harder of the two trails first in case of breakage or what not.

Sorry. Been pretty swamped the past couple of days. As for the trip, we need to decide on a trail. I think the 'con will be tough simply due to everyone's availability as well as the number of rigs on that trail. Both days we elected to do the con run, there was a large group on it.

I'm still open in July but more towards late July now.

As for trails other than the 'con... this trip is a pre-run for the Dusy Ersham trail run we plan on doing over Labor Day weekend so it needs to have enough difficulty to determine where our rigs are weakest prior to Sept.

I am up for doing Deer Valley followed by Slick Rock. Hows everyones calendar looking in July?

I'm good for anything except the July 4th weekend.

I could probably make a Shaver Lake run.
No salt like at Oceano. I can't afford to get my DD rusted out.
Hows gas in the valley? I got some in SLOtown yesterday at $3.32/gal.

OK so lets finalize a date and trail.

I doubt the 'con will be doable for a couple of reasons...
1) Uber crowded! Both dates I've suggested thus far have been dates where large groups of 50+ rigs were going plus all the small 2-5 rig groups.
2) MUST bring your own porta potty. This is mandatory and you can no longer leave #2 anywhere near the trail. Personally I'm not too keen on porting out poop especially on a trail as rough as the 'con.

So that said, I'm now considering alternatives like Slick Rock Trail to Deer Valley and if we have time the Strawberry Creek trail. See the 4x4Wire write up by Randy Wheeler here.
