This one has been years in the making. With the financial stress of the last few years, and since I don't drive the SWB in the winter, I had been running the 33s on Big Truck while Little is parked. Then I'd switch back to the heavily worn 265s that came off the 98 when the LTXs went on.
Money situation is improved and sights were set on getting new tires this year. Then, with a big rain last week, it was clear the 265s had gotten to the point of <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />.
I had picked up some Mitsu 7" wheels from "OmegaMale" a little while back. Once I got them, it turned out they were so rough, you would not want them on if not necessary. Well, I could swing the tires, but wheels too was going to add up to too much. So I had the 7s blasted, then I picked up a quart of paint to match my trim black. (Mystic Black?) Clear coated on top of the paint.
Things are pimpin' now. They mounted the tires late for me to pick up and didn't have time to clean off the bluing on the letters. I'll do that this weekend.
As many will recall from other threads, the tiring 95 struggles with turning the 33x12.50 on 15x8 steelies. I went with the same BFG A/Ts, this time in 32x11.50 and obviously on 15x7 alloys. After driving for a day, I think that this will turn out to be a nice compromise. The loss is height is nothing I will miss the way I [don't] wheel at this time. The lesser weight of 7# per tire, plus the allow versus steel, and then the improved effective gearing with the smaller diameter all seem to add up nicely.
They fit a little nice too. So I will lower the front just a bit. It is now more level with the rear, which of course drops when the weekend gear gets loaded. Going to get a set of the JC Whitney flares too.
