I finally found the reason for my high idle (1400) I took the HICV off the bottom of the throttle body and brought it inside. I put it in a pot of water on the stove and watched it. As the water temp went up to around 170 F (temp gauge in water) the valve would only move about 1/4", I pulled it out and put air to it and could still push air through it. Then I closed the valve all the way with a pry device and no air would go through... I guess the wax inside goes bad somehow? Anyway mine would not close all the way explaining my idle, 2100 cold and 1400-1500 warm.
The only thing my friend and I could figure out was to block the passage with some high dense foam, made sure it was large enough and crammed tight enough so that it could never get sucked in.
Put it all back together and idle is perfect. Even this morning when I started it cold, it was fine.

my question: is this ok, long term?
