Seat won't "stand up" #995809 05/03/10 10:21 PM

I'm trying to get my drivers seat "upright" again. At the most "upright" lock it is still reclined, and I *know* that it used to sit up straighter (even the passenger seat does so)

Is this a comon problem? Did I strip something in the seat? has something shifted? What should I look for?

I'm not really digging the Lay-Z-Boy driving position.

It sounds like you have stripped the gear teeth on the left side of the seat. This is usually caused when reclining the seat w/weight against the seat. and not pulling the lever up far enough. The same thing happened to me in my '90. If there is enough material left you might be able to smooth out the teeth, but it is unlikely. You will need to find a new gear set for it from a junk seat for a permanent fix. A quick short term fix(in my case it was 8yrs) position the seat in a comfortable position and drill a hole and use a bolt to lock the seat into place.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

the welds may have broken on the back of the seat loop.
big guy steered my wifes truck out after the fuel pump quit.

broke the welds on both sides.
pulled the custions off and re welded the lame factory welds.
good at new.
