My old antenna smapped off at the base. Are there any non-oem antennas out there? (I think "Toyota" antennas are $60 online - seems pricey)

I'll have to take a closer look, but it just looks like the mast broke off. Does it screw into the base?

Is it a power antenna? If so, see below:

Replacement masts run under $40 here in the US.

I am working on putting a short flexible antenna on my '85 to replace the power antenna. It is a little tricky as the stock mounting hole won't accommodate the aftermarket units I have tried to install due to the mounting angle and the inner fender wall behind the hole. Should have pictures and a writeup on the swap once it is done.

Yes - simple screw into the base. IIRC, the mast is male, the base is female...

I replaced the power antenna on my old 96 4Runner for < $40 from the dealer to a fixed mast. Still have a brand new mast (ended up with two for some reason) sitting in the garage. Should be an easy fix if it's just the mast.

Nope. Not a power antenna. At least it never moved as long as I've owned the truck smile

I just checked. The mast itself is broken, but when I took it off the base, the male portion of the base was also damaged. The top part of the male piece was only half there and there were only a couple of threads on the bottom that the antenna was hanging on to. By the lack of pieces falling out, I think it's been like that since I bought the truck 10+ years ago. There was also tons of grease packed in there ? ? ? ?

Soooooo, looks like the base is bad, but "good enough". If that mast stayed on for 10+years, I think I can get away with just relacing the mast!
