Problem installing after market antenna in the stock hole, the inner fender blocks the antenna base from fitting into the fender:

So first step is to remove the toggle clamps from the base:

Then fab up a mount to allow the antenna base to go in vertical (1" alum. rod w/ 1/2" hole):

Antenna base comes up through lower half of mount, hole in fender, then the top half of the mount goes on and the base is screwed in and the new antenna is in (painted the aluminum mount to match the black antenna):

No way this one will break:

Seems to pull in stations at least as good as the stock antenna.

Plus, removing the power antenna motor frees up the old power antenna connector and switch. As an added bonus, will use that circuit to control the up/down air solenoid valves when I get the air bag installed over the rear axle. Switch on the dash will allow for easy ride height control.

I had the stock antenna hole shaved when
I painted the truck aviator grey.
I'm going to do a VW GTI style install
dead center and angled back a bit on the
roof a couple inches from the back glass.
I'll get an apmlified version ( Fuba )
The stock location is horrible when running
narrow forest trails with branches brushing
the fenders.
