Getting the Wheeling Fever
Trying to replace the idler arm, but I can't seem to separate it from the steering link. I've been using a tie rod separator (same thing as pickle fork, I think), but that thing seems stuck stuck stuck.

Any ideas for getting it loose?

Thanks,

Matt

Soak it down with good penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Koil. Not WD-40

Get a TRE tool removal tool, I got mine at Harbor freight for about ten dollars, pickle forks put a bind on the joint and you will destroy the TRE.

I was taught another method by a Toyota team leader and it works. Here is a picture.

Couldn't get it to pop out with the two hammers, but the TRE remover did the trick. Thanks for the help!

That's definitely one of those tools that, looking back, was well worth the $15. I find myself using it a lot.

BTW in a pinch, a gear puller can aften be used to do the same thing.
