Hi all,

I haven't been around for some time due to the ups and downs of life, death, and everything else in between. When last you saw me I had started rebuilding the upper part of the engine on my '89 LWB Montero with the assistance of a friend. We got it through the installation of rebuilt heads and then he moved. Not being a stellar mechanic I didnÆt' want to tackle it myself for fear of messing things up and hoped to get back to it someway...somehow. Unfortunately part of that "life thing" has been my wife losing her job of 11 years. We are tight all around and need to sell the project. I am in it about $3500, and have everything but a few belts needed to get it back together. Including the rebuilt heads spent ($400 on those), rodded and pressure tested radiator (another $100), new stock fan ($90), full gasket set ($100), installed new master and slave clutch cylinders ($50+). The body is straight and the BF Goodrich MT's have about 70% of their life left in them. Its been on non-op so there are no outstanding fees. ItÆs a great vehicle and a good mech could have it rolling in a day or so. I really need to come up with $1500 for bills so if someone is interested please drop me a note at mmagusb@hotmail.com We live in the Temecula Valley area. I hope its ok to post a full vehicle here as I didn't see a "vehicle for sale" area.

Thanks,
Pastor Mark

Here is a picture when we had him out on a run.

Pastor Mark,

Sorry to hear your tale of woe. I was laid off, as well. after 14 years in my industry.

Good luck!

an, sorry to hear on both accounts. Wish I was closer. It looks like it could be a good buy. Hoping the bet for both...

Thanks for the well wishes gents. I have not put it up on CL yet as I am hoping someone here will keep it in the family, so to speak. Oh I also have a custom made tow reciever on it.

It is not back together, the heads are mounted and properly torqued. All the parts are here and many are new. It needs new fan belts, but thats it. As I understand it, a decent mech should be able to have it going in a day. I will leave it here exclusivly for the rest of the week then it goes on Craigslist. Oh...and the driver's seat is a "bouncy".

It was rebuilt before I bought it and what seems to have happened is that the person milled the heads, but didnt have the cam rests bored. As a result the straight cams were running on warped rests and the first time I stressed the engine the gaskets blew. The block was perfectly straight thank God. The heads we put on are purchased rebuilt ones, not the old ones "fixed".

More life in the way so this has been a back burner...again. I just posted him on CL for $1500 but if a forum member wants it at $1000 give me a call. 951-294-7717.
