So, I got a new back door for my 2001 Montero.

I found a replacement door from A Partsmart Inc. in Utah for $300.00 & called Mitus USA with the VIN number from the pull vehicle to verify the color.

The door had been damaged by a friend of my ex-wife who was moving it for her.
(damage haiku)
In a driveway Clear skies
Backed into a great big pine tree
Popped the window glass out

So, she had a friend 'fix' it for her. Supplies used were a drill, box of sheet metal screws & a sheet of 1/4 inch plastic.

I swear to god, they drilled into this thing like BP in the Gulf of Mexico, with the same results. It leaks like crazy! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

So, will hang the door soon.

Other repairs on my todo list.

- replace bottom bumper wrap around. Damaged in some other collision.
- replace passenger side mirror. Damaged in some other collision.
Oh, this is a classic too! The mirror's base was broke but since it's electric it was still attached to the car by the cabling. So they fixed it with - you guessed it, a whole bunch more sheet metal screws. but they couldn't get them more than half way in so they stick out so bad it looks like there's a porcupine mounted to the door.

- replace or repair the carpet. Apparently the only place to get carpet for this year Montero is the dealer. $550.00.

Note: All damage & abuse sufferend by this vehicle was on city streets.

2001 Montero XLS. Needs some TLC.
My B**ch ex-wife really treated this vehicle badly. Been fixing it up since I had to take possesion after the divorce.
