Getting the Wheeling Fever
I knew I shoulda left well enough alone. This weekend, I cleaned the throttle body and MAF, new air filter, etc. Now it won't idle when it warms up. When the engine is cold, it will stay running. But when it is shut off and started again (like at Home Depot on Sunday ), it won't stay running. It will run as long as I'm giving it gas. Let off the accelerator and it dies. I've replaced most of the vacuum lines and listened to the rest--can't hear any leaks. No CEL.

What did I mess up? Any suggestions?

btw, fwiw, the auto transmission has been slow to shift lately. I changed the fluid--didn't help much.

Could be the coolant temp sensor has gone bad. You'll have to measure that and see if it's within range.

Not sure if the TPS could've been affected when you cleaned the TB. You might want to measure it to see how it's doing.

Looks like I fixed it. The Idle Control Valve was gummed up. I guess my TB spray washed some stuff down there and the little valve couldn't open/close. I took the TB and ICV off (stripped a dang screw on the ICV ). Then, thoroughly cleaned it with TB spray, rags, toothpicks, pipe cleaners, etc. Seems to be running like usual now.

Thanks to this forum, I have discovered the resources (FSM, articles, threads, etc) and confidence to take on a project like this myself.

Yep, gotta go easy on your cleaner for the reason you discovered.

WTG on your findings!
