Getting the Wheeling Fever

My HTML is disabled...do i need that to post photos ?
I read the "how to" section here...it states i can only post a link to a shared site to see my photos. How are other people posting photo's that when you click on their post... the pic pops right up (instead of having to click on a link). Sorry for the run on sentence. I've been on many forums and this particular pic posting is new to me.
