Getting the Wheeling Fever
My truck died yesterday. Came out from convience store and she wouldnt fire up. Luckily there was a service shop next door and they said i was the pump and wanted 300.00 for repair. I told them i would handle it and autozone has one for 99.00. I looked at the FSM and it seem's fairly straight forward. Anyone run into any issues replacing theirs ??? Im going to tackle it 2morrow night.

Well , that seems to be the only thing on mine that hasn't failed. After repairs; my alternator is alternating; my starter is starting, & my pistons are pissing. It seems to be pretty straight forward based on the post I've read. If it's not ,I'm sure there are knowledgeable members to guide you. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

You need a set of flare nut wrenches to safely loosen the fuel line connectors. Only one end is a swivel connector. Otherwise straightforward...

Here in the midwest, those fuel lines are prime for corrosion. Severe corrosion.

Be prepared to soak the line connections overnight first using penetrating fluid or brake fluid.

Worst case scenario is you may have to also buy a new flex line going to the sending unit, a new sending unit (prime for corrosion also), sending unit gasket, pick-up tube sock.

When accessing the sending unit through the access hatch in the rear cargo area, take care not to damage the access door gasket - it's obsolete from Mitsu. If it's bad you'll have to cut a new one.
