i now have available 10 and 8 inch independent suspension lift kits for gen 2 monteros kit includes all front drop down frame and brackets drive line spacers and new rear control amrs and springs the kits are $1849.00 and ship in 10 days

Can you post pics of the rear control arms and springs?

While I applaud you efforts with this, from the pics posted this still looks pretty developmental and incomplete.

You would probably do better by waiting untill you have the whole kit figured out and tested prior to offering it up as "now available" and "ships in 10 Days.."

I'm not trying to be a skeptic but I cant be the only one with similar concerns.

Good on you for doing this. I just think you'll have more success if you are on the up and up with us.

interesting. I think I would like to see a 2" or 3" drop. Probably a larger market for this smaller size lift that a 8" or 10". But you would not be able to drop the upper control arm like how you have it with a 2" lift. i wonder would it be unsafe to build an extension to the upper control arm to the upper ball joint since they bolt togethor?

The upper control arm doesn't take as much abuse as the lower so I'd imagine an extension would be viable. Hardened bolts might be required like it is with a BJ flip.

I like the idea of folks doing more for Monteros but I always thought IFS drop kits were inherently weak. I figured, the more structure used for drop, the weaker. ....kind of like the suspension is a huge lever that torques on the entire structure every time it hits an obstacle. Then drive-line angles and caster get tweaked.

My hats off to you though......You aint skeered.

I'm really curious what size tire you are planning on running, I assume 44's or bigger. Where's the complete setup pics? Are you planning on making a more rigid version for 4 wheeling? I suggest a 4-5" drop lift with more crossmembers connecting the two main drop brackets, this would allow you to run up to a 37" tire which is probably the most you'd want to run on a "wheeled" 3.5L powered truck. You'll also want to CNC up a new front skid to protect the front drop bracket otherwise you'll run into some problems out on the trail almost instantly. Maybe if i have time i'll post up some pics this weekend of what's left of clay's drop lift so you can build your lift to be the best possible

Lets see it Toasty.

Another question>

How are you planning on achieving 10" of rear lift?

I think he made new trailing arms, new driveshaft and probably vally springs maybe

ClayTK's lift is on his chebby and he doesn't wheel it hard but the dirt ruts that it has seen have basically destroyed his lift.

I think the 10" lift is cool and all but I do not see a big market for it. Currently the market demands 35-37" tires. You can pretty much go anywhere you want with 37" tires. If your looking to make money then design a 5-6" lift which will clear 37" tires. Designing a lift to fit tires larger than 37's will cause logistical problems like the vehicle will be underpowered and gear ratios are limited. Also the components like the differentials, CV's and axle shafts are not capable of taking the abuse of tires larger than 37's and I think 37's are pushing it myself if people ever plan on using this kit offroad.

What size tires are you planning on running and with what axle and what gears made by who?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Guys I mentioned the same thing when speaking with him over the phone. He said 10" is just one option but he can also build a different sized lift.

As for the front suspension you can either retain your torsion bars or go with a coilover setup.

As for tires, well that's really up to the owner. While most of us here prefer to take them off road (ie. 38's would be pushing the limits of the drivetrain) other potential customers of his may be only interested in a street rig with 44's.

Hey to each their own. Myself I'd rather have a functional solution which is facilitated by the masses buying mall cruiser gear from the same vendors that would also offer hard core gear.

So that said, I welcome this 10" lift even though I'd be interested in something more along the lines of a 6" lift instead.

[color:"red"] So your endorsing this not because it's a well engineered and safe kit, but because you hope the Masses will buy it helping to finance R&D for a hadcore kit? Good luck with that.[/color]

While I understand that its great when someone makes something for our rigs, that doesn't mean that we should so eagerly accept any design of questionable engineering that comes our way just because a similar kit is not offered in the states.

There are a lot of questions left to be answered here.

-As it stands in the photos, there is no provisions to steer the rig, ready to ship in 10 days?? I doubt it. Maybe there will be a 10" drop pitman arm to go with the kit, that will work real well..

-Where are the pics of the rear lift that's "ready to ship."

-where are the brace bars to the frame to keep the thing from folding up?
