Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
My truck was sitting lower in the front so while back, I cranked the torsion bars to raise the front end a little. Only raised it about 1.5-2 inches to bring the truck a little more level. Looked better and I didn't notice a change in the gas mileage. I track each and every tank of gas to see what the mileage is so I'm not just guessing as to my gas mileage...like many people do.
I recently drove my truck about 450 miles...there and back. The roads were rolling hills and I kept the speed at or under 70mph. Some stop and go through a handful of small towns but mostly highway driving. I got 20 mpg.
My truck will get 20 mpg on the open road as long as I keep it 70 mph and under. Over 70 mph, the mileage drops off a bit to around 17-18. With my normal driving...a mix of highway and city driving...I get about 17 mpg. In the winter time (more idling and some 4x4 usage) I see around 15-16 mpg on normal day to day use.
