I couldn't find a set of 11s that I liked and these 15s popped up 40min away.

I missed this a couple posts back. I didn't realize you had 15/38.5-15 Boggers instead of 38.5x11-15s. Even though I admit I thought they looked a little wide for being 11s. Good luck with running those 88lb tires, they weigh 3lbs more than a 39.5x15 IROK essentially. But again more power too ya. Here I was worried about the Q78s @ 65lbs being too heavy.

Where do you find tire weight?

I Noticed a SIGNIFICANT decrease in felt power when I went from my 25X12.50 procomp x-terrains to these 36X13.50 swampers.

Check the manufacturer's web site. My mere Toyo Open Country M/T's in 33/12.5-15's weigh 69.4 lbs before a wheel is even considered.

But then again...they're GOOD tires. Ho-HO! (Flame suit on).

35x12.50R15 Procomp X-Terrains: 34.7 x 12.7 - 64lbs - 18/32nds

36x12.5-15 Bias Ply TSL: 36.3 x 13.5 - 65lbs - 24/32nds

While the two tires almost weigh the same here is what makes your jump to the TSLs a drastic one.

- First off you are moving up from more than one inch in size, you are moving 1.6 inches. You are running close to a 36.5" basically.

- A huge difference in the radial to bias ply construction. Bias Ply tires have a lot more rolling resistance than radials do.

- Tread depth/amount is another biggie. You are starting off with a lot more tread. More tread = more rolling resistance.

- Also tread design is another factor.

- Lastly you are going from a 12.5 to a 13.5 which also increases rolling resistance.

You put all these together and it explains your loss in power.

Now just imagine going from an 31x10.5 Radial, to a 15/38.5 Bias Ply Bogger..... its going to be a HUGE difference.

And wind resistance, once you are at any kind of speed. The wider the tire, the bigger the air dam, in static terms.
